Adult Cast
Auditions
Our auditions are relaxed and friendly, designed to give everyone the chance to show what they can do. Depending on the roles you audition for, you may be asked to sing, learn a few simple steps and read a short section from the script. We’re not looking for perfection, we’re looking for enthusiasm, commitment and a readiness to be part of the team!
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are fun, focused and energetic!
We rehearse on Mondays 7-10pm at Lopping Hall (IG10 4LF).
Although you're welcome to stay for the full 3 hours, you won't always be required to stay for the full night. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be given out ahead of time. We also schedule a couple of Sunday rehearsals nearer to the show.
Show Week
Our annual panto is performed over the last full weekend in January, so please do ensure that you are available for that whole week before applying for auditions. We hold costume rehearsals on the Monday, Tech on the Tuesday, Dress on the Wednesday, and Shows from Thursday-Sunday!
It's a very busy week, but so worth it for the fun we have and the laughter we bring to our audiences!
Junior Cast
Membership
Due to licencing restrictions we can only accommodate a limited number of young performers in each production,​. To support the young performers already involved with the company, current UpStage Juniors are given the first opportunity to apply.
After this priority period, any remaining places are opened up to new young performers who would like to join us.

Auditions
We often have smaller roles in the script, which we open to Juniors to audition for as well. It'sa great opportunity for them to experience auditions alongside our adult cast in a supportive setting. We do not always require juniors to audition if they would like to be a part of the ensemble only.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are fun, focused and energetic!
We rehearse on Mondays 6-7pm at Lopping Hall (IG10 4LF). Occassionally we will ask our Juniors to stay until 8pm, which will be arranged as necessary. We also schedule a couple of Sunday rehearsals nearer to the show.
Show Week

Membership Fees
Junior Cast – £100 per production
​
Junior membership includes all participation costs for the show, including costumes, performance licences and other essential production expenses required for young performers. This ensures parents don’t face additional hidden costs once rehearsals begin.
Adult Membership – £40 per year (optional)
Adults can choose to become a paid member of UpStage Theatre Company for £40 per year. This supports the running of the company and gives members voting rights at our Annual General Meeting.
Our aim is always to keep theatre as accessible and affordable as possible, and we work hard through fundraising and ticket sales to keep participation costs low for everyone involved.
